Next it is time to search for a home. If you haven’t now is a great time to consult with your agent. Many agents just take a call meet you at a house you called on. The problem with this is you mostly will be disappointed because neither you or your agent really discussed if it was a good fit.
As an agent I like to sit and meet with my clients. That way we can talk about what the most important things are to have in their home.
So many things need to be discussed, Location, Down payment, Schools, Home layout, Parking , time frame of your move. If you are selling a home in order to purchase another, there are few different ways to proceed.
Use all resources available, one I love is google Maps. I like using the satellite view that can save you time and not have you viewing a home that just might not have the right piece of property or might be just not in the right location.
Select the properties you would like to view. If you have time or an appointment isn’t scheduled for a day or so, maybe a drive by will give you an idea if you even want to see the home.
If you are going out with an agent sometimes you will meet at the property. Sometimes you will meet at the home scheduled for appointment. I feel if you don’t know the neighborhood it is best to drive there and get a feel of the area.
Get to know your agent, let your agent get to know you and your family. After all this is the highest value purchase most of us will do in our life. Your agent should be very aware of your needs and that will make the home buying process run smoother.
When you do find the home you want to make an offer on it is good to be aware of what the paperwork looks like. I always provide sample documents for examination.
Then you find the house of your dreams and put it under contract.
